Created by designer Charlotte Hicks, Australian label ESSE proposes a beautiful and luxurious solution to the fashion industry’s issue with excess. Reflecting BETA’s and STH BNK’s focus on recycling and repurposing materials already in use, ESSE encapsulates a minimalist mindset.
CONSIDERED DESIGN
Everything ESSE does is underpinned by three key pillars: purpose, creativity and the craft of design. Seasonless drops are driven by time over trend, resulting in an infinitely wearable capsule wardrobe. Taking inspiration from traditional tailoring, the label’s signature aesthetic pays homage to menswear and shows a deep appreciation for the refined details found in a gentleman’s wardrobe.

CIRCULAR FASHION
Extending ESSE’s admiration for menswear, the Future From Waste Lab residency will see them take this one step further by producing limited-edition garments actually made from reworked vintage tailoring.
ABOUT ESSE
Propelled by their sense of responsibility, ESSE aims to reduce excess across all parts of their business from design decisions to operations. As part of this, they contemplate the life cycle materials already in circulation. “We don’t need to perpetually create more for creation’s sake. Reusing, recycling and generally focusing on more circular design has always been part of my design process,” Charlotte says. “I am continually inspired by repurposing and reinvigorating older pieces and breathing new life into the designs.”
