Circular Basket Making Workshop

Known for her bright and vibrant works, Sienna Barton will apply her eye for aesthetics to basket weaving in this hands-on workshop. Offering a moment of pause and a return to tactility, you’ll be guided through the meditative process of making your own small coiled basket.

There’s no need to bring anything to this workshop; all of the materials will be provided and you will take home your creation. Choose from an array of curated textile offcuts to assemble your sculptural form on the day.

As relaxing as it is informative, this workshop is an ideal opportunity to make a special and unique Christmas gift or for anyone who is interested in learning a new technique from a local artist.

Situated within the Makers House (Level 4), we invite you to explore the space before and after the workshop. The unique fit-out utilises materials repurposed from the Hanover House building, while emerging artisans work in a series of open studios.

ABOUT Sienna Barton

Artist

Working across textiles, collage and painting, Melbourne-based artist Sienna Barton’s practice is a labour of love. Each piece, regardless of the medium, is the result of countless hours of dedication and creation. With a deep appreciation for colour theory, her portfolio is punctuated by a bold use of colour and joyous palettes. Her textile works utilise discarded materials sourced from local fashion labels, her own wardrobe and second hand stores, paying homage to the histories embodied within each thread.
